BusinessMan is a comprehensive CRM/ERP solution that has been developed over many years by Computech.

Computech is a long established business offering FileMaker database development, website design and hosting, networks and consultancy, bespoke software applications and hardware solutions to clients throughout the UK and other territories worldwide. The company, which can be found in Saltash, originally started out in 1990 and has many years experience in the IT industry. Computech have gained reputable partnerships with companies such as Panasonic, MySQL, Billion, Dell, Symantec, Brother and Microsoft, providing computer solutions for all requirements.

Bespoke App

BusinessMan had a fairly rudimentary warehouse module to begin with. To fulfil their aim as the most comprehensive ERP system on the market, they need a complete revamp of this area. The old module had some legacy code that needed to be completely re-written.

How we solved it

Our approach

After many hours planning in the Computech offices, we came up with a very highly efficient and effective warehouse module that tracks inventory movements, levels, locations on a per Trading Company basis. It also required revamps of their allocation, pick notes and shipping modules. The module is now used by some fairly large US companies who manage inventory levels in the hundreds of thousands.

Code

Simple, sleek, efficient code design. Makes debugging and correcting very easy to support. Code like this makes it very modular and reusable.

Assemblies

Assemblies (BOM’s) can also be built within BusinessMan either RTB or Pre-Built. Jobs/Work Orders can be created, scheduled and assigned to resources to complete the production process.

Auditing

The module tracks all inventory movement, including recording when it leaves the system for QA purposes.

Inventory Management

Inventory management also includes the ability to record serial numbers and batch numbers, so allocation can be managed to suit the customer. The stock system also supports the use of “Bill of Materials” (BOM) and can create internal work orders (Jobs) to manufacture or assemble items for use as finished goods for stock replenishment.
