We upgraded the App to allow for multiple Local Authorities instead of one.

MCR Pathways

MCR Pathways are a charity based in Glasgow, Scotland. Their vision is that every care experienced and disadvantaged young person in Glasgow, and soon Scotland, gets the same education outcomes, career opportunities and life chances as every other young person. They pair volunteer mentors with a young person and the mentor spends 1 hour a week, listening and encouraging their young person.

Bespoke App Upgrade

As MCR Pathways have grown over the past few years, so have their needs. Initially they where based only in Glasgow but based on the performance and results of their charity work. It has grown the interest in them from other Local Authorities/Councils in Scotland. The app was never intended to be used over several local authorities so this was the main portion of the upgrade. Also with the new GDPR laws coming into effect around this time, we also had to make the bespoke app GDPR compliant.

How we solved it

Our approach

As we had performed a similar process for a previous client, we had a head start on what needed to be done. We had to add an extra layer to the database to handle Local Authorities and make sure that all records in the system are Local Authority specific. This means that users in one local authority won’t accidentally see another local authorities data. We also believe in giving users full control of their data, so we built in tools that allowed the user to specify which fields could potentially contain GDPR data and allow the printing and removal of this information as simple as clicking one button.

Local Authority

We added areas to add, remove, edit, search and manage Local Authorities. All data now is related to a specific local authority. This includes Audits, Mentors and Users.

GDPR Compliant

We gave the ability for the user to specify which data is GDPR and this allowed them to quickly print GDPR data and if the case requires it. Completely mask this information so that it is completely unrecoverable. MCR required that the mentor data remained to keep their reporting stats correct even in the event a mentor had their data removed.
